ENDLICH FESTIVAL – POSTPONED!!

Dear (Future) Audience and Participants!

In the past weeks, we’ve faced problems that unfortunately leave us no other possibility than to postpone the Endlich-festival.

The deconstruction of the former Boiler-Building made us lose one of the venues we curated for. And the toxic materials from that deconstruction have been stored in another venue, the Turbine-Hall, without necessary care – leaving behind shiny rainbows of asbestos in the air. The owners of the site were not responsive to our requests to solve the issue, and we didn’t have the money and knowledge to make the space safe again for us and the visitors. The concept of the festival wouldn’t work without the two contradictory buildings.

On the other hand, we started having issues with the neighbors – small events on the site were interrupting their quiet lifestyle, and we started having frequent visits from the police, who finally told us we have no right to any further action on the site. This turned out to be wrong, yet a new set of requirements and bureaucratic hurdles that this intervention created will take several months to solve. The departments turned out to love the festival idea and declared their support, but that won’t solve the time issue. We have gone months before to register the event and each possible authority told us there’s no need for such an event. That turned out to be wrong, but who were we to question it.

Shit hit the fan!.. With all these obstacles, we had to decide to postpone the event. We are incredibly sorry for this news – and for hard work and months of preparations, our team and artists have put already in making it happen. But, we’re not giving up, and we have a plan B 🙂

  • The Endlich- Festival will be postponed until spring 2020
  • We’ve developed an alternative mini-format for the planned date of the event, with the artist traveling here from far. It’ll be linked to the environmental happenings in Berlin at the time. Further details will be announced soon!
  • „Experimentelles Zukunftslabor e.V.“ will host smaller events dealing with environmental, social and cultural matters, in line with the „endlich“- concept of innovative formats, with positive visions and moving us towards utopia until – and after – the big event of „endlich- festival of utopias“ will happen next year.

Sincerely, your never the-less-highly motivated
